CHARLES PROW: R.I.P
posted 4 days, 16 hours ago

Charles Prow was featured in DIG on more than one occasion and was well known and liked in the Leeds and UK scene. Tragically, on the 16th of July, Charles passed away whilst working on tour for Madonna in Marseille, France. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time. RIP.

Charles has always been a well known figure here on the boards of streetphire, known to most of you as on here as "Cheers" Charles Prow will be sorely missed. I met Charles originally at the Lambrini Jams up in Leeds years ago when Hyde Park was made of plastic ramps. I'll always remember the first Lambrini Jam and meeting Charles, he was a great guy and always brought a smile to everyone's face. Thanks for the good times man, you'll never be forgotten. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends

Police investigate death of Charles Prow on stage of Madonna concert

Police began questioning witnesses in Marseilles yesterday to discover why a stage for a Madonna concert collapsed, killing two workers, one a British man.
Charles Prow, 23, a technician from Leeds who was on Madonna’s concert team, died yesterday morning, hours after falling 50 feet as the steel set was being built for a show at the VĂ©lodrome stadium.
A 53-year-old French worker, Charles Criscenzo, was killed and ten others were injured, including an American who was in a critical condition. The condition of two others was described as serious, and 36 people suffered minor injuries and shock.
Appearing in Udine, northern Italy, Madonna said that she was appalled by the incident. “Two men lost their lives, which is a great tragedy to me. I feel so devastated to be in any way associated with anyone’s suffering,” she said.

In Leeds, Mr Prow’s family mourned the loss of “a much loved son, grandson, brother, uncle and friend”. A representative said: “Charles was a happy-go-lucky guy with a big personality and he will be deeply missed.”
The concert in Marseilles, which was part of the singer’s world tour and scheduled to be attended by 40,000 fans on Sunday night, was cancelled and tickets will be refunded.
Xavier Darcos, the Labour Minister, expressed his regret at the accident and demanded that everything should be done to establish what happened. Police are to interview dozens of witnesses and study video and commercial contracts, with a view to possible charges of causing death unintentionally at a place of work. Prosecutors said that they would determine quickly whether stringent safety procedures had been applied during the construction.
The roof of the giant, Meccano-like stage became unbalanced as it was being lifted into place by four cranes, fire officials said. One of the cranes fell, crashing on to the 60-tonne structure below. Most of the victims were technicians working on the stage. Emergency workers described a battlefield-like scene, with victims scattered under the wreckage.
Post-mortem examinations were to be carried out on both the victims late last night and investigators were trying to determine whether the various subcontractors for Live Nation, the British-based company that is producing Madonna’s tour, had followed proper procedures.

R.I.P Charles Gillian Prow

16th July 2009

One of my favourite memories of you was just last NYE when that random dude came in to the house party, and we put that silver chinese takeaway box on his head,he was screaming at us saying we had taken things too far,we were laughing so hard that we had tears in our eyes.

Also i wanted to say thanks for being one of the people that went out of there way to indroduce me to everyone when i first moved here.

I remember my going away to America party and i know it was you that organized that.I know that your one of the few people that would do any thing for anyone,or be it for some fags or tinnys

Your one in a million man and one of my best friends,im proud to have known you for the tears that i did
Yesturday im sure you would be happy to know we all Bic razored are heads in true Prow fashion,i even shaved a capital "C" in my chest hair and have I heart C.P written in permanent marker on my head.We all then went to the Basement and drank the way you would have wanted us to.I think Ricky Adam wanted us to do a photo shoot thing with me and our shaved heads, but i had to go to work.Life goes on.

RIP seems almost innapropriate because i know you would be terrorizeing the streets and the women wherever you are
